I·CARE receives Positive Workplace Service Award 2021

The I·CARE Programme attaches great importance to the all-round development of students, and is committed to strengthening their outlook and fostering them to care for the society. Being the unit to administer the programme, this Centre vows to pass on the spirit of abnegation and philanthropy to CUHK staff as well, in a bid to help promote positive thinking and behaviour within the campus. Under this context, the V·Love - I·CARE team and the Director of this Centre are delighted to receive the Positive Workplace Service Award 2021. This Centre was also among the recipients of the “Team Award” in the same event held last time (i.e. 2018-19).

The current Positive Workplace Service Award was granted to altogether 12 units including four receiving the “Individual Award” (of which two possessors obtained the “Positive Leadership Award” as well), six receiving the “Team Award” and two receiving the “Panel’s Appreciation Award”. On this Centre, its V·Love - I·CARE team was presented with the “Team Award” and the Director Ms. Irene Ng scooped both “Individual Award” and “Positive Leadership Award”. While Prof. Edwin Chan (the then Co-chairmen of the Steering Committee for Promoting Personal Development through Social and Civic Engagement) had nominated us for the former two categories, the hindmost award was recommended by the Central Selection Panel. They, together with all other awardees and nominators, attended the “Positive Workplace Service Award Presentation Ceremony 2021” on the 15th of December last year to receive and witness the certificates and trophies presented by Prof. Rocky S. Tuan, the Vice-Chancellor and President.

This Centre is thankful to the staunch supporters of the I·CARE Programme for their presence at the aforesaid ceremony to share our joy. They included Dr. Derrick Au (member of the Working Group for the University Lecture on Civility), Mr. Eric Yip (founder of CUSE Fund and mentor of the Social Enterprise Startup Scheme), Mr. Simon Ngai (mentor of the Social Enterprise Startup Scheme) and Mr. Kelvin Yeung (donor of the I·CARE Programme). As to the guests of the Centre Director, they were Prof. Leung Yuen-sang of the Department of History, Prof. Kenneth Young of the Department of Physics, Dr. Yung Kung-hing of Chung Chi College and Ms. Stella Chan of Wu Yee Sun College.

Sponsored by the University’s Committee on Positive Workplace and Staff Development, the “Positive Workplace Service Award” was set up in 2016-17. The judging criteria are positive communication, teamwork relationship, mutual trust and respect, work safety, and continuous learning.
