Synopsis of the Documentary

In 2010, the Co-Directors were invited to India to film the celebratory activities of the 900th Anniversary of the 17th Karmapa. At the very beginning, the journey was supposed to be no more than a dream come true, as the Co-Directors had long been looking for opportunities to film something spiritual. Never had they expected that it would turn out to be such a mesmeric experience, which went far beyond their anticipations. Throughout this wonderful adventure, the filming crew had explored the meaning of their everyday lives and also obtained much inspirations from all the wise men in the circle of Rinpoches.

Each life begins from looking for the authentic self...... While we were in India, we found that many people suffered from poverty and illnesses. If life is all about endurance, what’s the point of repeating our existence? This is what we would like to examine. ...A young reporter had once thought this documentary was something related to Buddhism; but then he realised that it was not. He told me that this documentary had triggered his thoughts. I feel so grateful about that, and this is all what we would like to achieve - to inspire and enlighten every single audience.

- Clara Choi

Life is about repeating our everyday lives, and therefore we have incorporated the concept of reincarnation into this documentary. All we would like to bring to the audiences is how we can obtain genuine freedom, and how we can find our authentic self. ...There are too many things beyond our imaginations, and each of us may have different perspectives towards life – all of these are out of our control. We are glad that this documentary has lived its own life and has taken a step further to influence those of others. There are indeed too many things that we cannot anticipate.

- Kwan Pun-leung
