In face of the epidemic outbreak, children have always been confined to their home and attended most of their classes online. What kind of services can be rendered to satisfy the needs of children under this circumstance? Two speakers, who are experienced in children services, have therefore been invited by the I·CARE Social Service Projects Scheme of this Centre to give an overview on the characteristics and needs of different children groups and to shed light on the key elements of designing services for children. Participants of this sharing session would also learn how to meet children’s developmental needs through playwork as well as the experience of implementing social services in times of epidemic.

Sharing Session on “From Giving to Gaining - A Reflection on Overseas Service Learning”

Many students may have hesitations when participating in overseas service trips: Can a week-long trip solve social issues in the local community? What is the correct attitude in communicating with the locals? To address these concerns, the I·CARE Social Service Projects Scheme of this Centre is going to hold a Sharing Session on “From Giving to Gaining - A Reflection on Overseas Service Learning”, with three student volunteer teams (which were funded by this scheme to carry out service learning projects in the Mainland, Cambodia and Nepal respectively) revealed their bittersweet experiences. Led by the veteran provider of overseas voluntary service, the teams will also discuss with participants on the meaning of overseas service and how to orientate the service trips amid the pandemic.
