Social Enterprise Startup Scheme: Activities of the Second Term, 2022-23


Sharing Session on “How a Social Enterprise Makes Reading Accessible to All”

To promote a reading culture, the social enterprise, Rolling Books, turned a van into a mobile library and travels to schools and communities to bring the joy of reading to underprivileged children via various creative activities. It aims to promote equal opportunities and strengthen bonds within the community.


The I·CARE Social Enterprise Startup Scheme is pleased to have invited the founder of Rolling Books to share his mission and journey of operating a social enterprise, as well as the key to run a sustainable business. Details are as follows:

* Speaker’s Biography:


Mr. Chong Chan-yau is the Co-founder and CEO of CarbonCare InnoLab, Member of Board of Directors of Climate Finance Asia, Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong Blind Union, and Board Member of the Dialogue in the Dark (HK) Foundation. He was an Administrative Officer in the Hong Kong SAR Government, Executive Director of Oxfam Hong Kong, and Director of the Centre for Development and Resources for Students of The University of Hong Kong (HKU).


Mr. Chong graduated from HKU with a Bachelor of Arts degree and obtained a Master’s degree in Information Systems from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
